David Grellmann, GEM’s founder, is an urgent care and family practice physician in South Bend, Indiana. He also holds degrees in religion and public health. The son of missionary parents, he grew up in Africa and Canada. For five years he worked at Masanga Leprosy Hospital in Sierra Leone, West Africa. In addition to his hospital duties, he directed TB and leprosy control efforts in two of the country’s provinces, and established Masanga’s TB unit. Grellmann lives in Michigan with his wife Carrie and three children.
