Hwata School

Project: Rebuild Hwata Secondary School
Hwata Secondary School is a high school in Muzarabani, Zimbabwe that was acquired by the Eastern Zimbabwean Conference of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. The school serves over 300 high school students.

The greatest immediate needs of the school:

    • digging a second borehole to adequately meet the water usage requirements of the school and of the community surrounding the school
•repairing old and leaky roofs to provide proper cover before the rainy season starts when almost daily showers restrict instructional time
    • purchasing textbooks for teachers and pupils to allow for teaching and learning
    • establishing a grinding mill so that the school can generate it’s own income – the school is currently supported financially by the Eastern Zimbabwe Conference of Seventh-Day Adventists, which itself is strained beyond its resources and unable to meet all the needs of the school. The grinding mill can allow the school to generate income, and give students an opportunity to learn a practical trade.
